Yokai are supernatural creatures or spirits in Japanese folklore, encompassing a diverse range of entities from mischievous tricksters to vengeful ghosts. These mythical beings often have unique, eerie characteristics and are deeply rooted in Japanese culture, appearing in various forms in literature, art, and even contemporary media. Yokai stories serve as a fascinating reflection of societal fears, moral lessons, and the mysterious aspects of the natural world in Japanese tradition.
This series began in late 2023 with the release of Oni and then continued in early 2024 with a partial mintage release of Kitsune. Oni and Kitsune V1 were both struck by Great River Mint. Tooling upgrades since then have allowed us to move the Minting of the remaining bars in the series here at Hayleybug Mint begining in late May of 2026.
